This rock band called "Kings of Leon". Are they righteous? I really could not give you a definitive answer. Sons of preachers. Fallen away, perhaps, perhaps not. If so, possibly the result of divorce. Their family broken, and I have read, their father leaving.
I have not listened to all of their songs, some of which have very risque ( that's frinch for those of you in Cleveland! ) titles, but I posted here, concerning this song and this video after much internal debate ( me fighting with me ).
It is not a perfect video by Christian standards, but I feel moved to have you hear these young men, and I believe my feeling was validated earlier when, while inspecting the video ( linked below at the bottom of this page ) , I found the young men PRAYING backstage - 2:40 into the video .
Read the words and listen to them performed by these fellows. Then, tell me you don't feel a little moved.
Myself, I think they are talking about Jesus.

Use Somebody lyrics
Songwriters: Followill, Caleb; Followill, Jared; Followill, Matthew; Followill, Nathan;
I've been roaming around, I was looking down at all I see
Painted faces fill the places I can't reach
You know that I could use somebody
You know that I could use somebody

Someone like you and all you know and how you speak
Countless lovers under cover of the street
You know that I could use somebody
You know that I could use somebody
Someone like you

Off in the night while you live it up I'm off to sleep
Waging wars to shake the poet and the beat
I hope it's gonna make you notice
I hope it's gonna make you notice

Someone like me, someone like me
Someone like me, somebody

I'm ready now, I'm ready now
I'm ready now, I'm ready now
I'm ready now, I'm ready now
I'm ready now

Someone like you, somebody
Someone like you, somebody
Someone like you, somebody

I've been roaming around, I was looking down at all I see.

I've truly no idea whether they are or not - First time ever hearing of them.. With their background, you'd tend to think they are - But the other %50 of me internally reminds myself how so many "artists", be it music, sports, or acting quickly jump on the Jesus-scene, throwing in a phrase here or there, or some visual display just to get the religious folk "buying" their product, or adding to their popularity.. Poor wording perhaps (it's early here), but you get my gist I hope. Again, not saying that's the case with them, just saying it gets abused, which is sad when it happens, and forces us to watch with more scrutiny and concern. Let us know if ya turn up anything more on these fellas, I'm curious now!

I'm not so sure there a Christian band. There web page has no refference to it. See this link www.kingsofleon.com/

There other songs in a search do not seem so Christian. See google link www.google.com/search?sourceid=navclient...&q=kings+of+leon

I do like there stile of music though.

If you notice, I mentioned that I struggled with whether or not to post this song and and a bit of their story. No they are not a Christian band. But I believe after reading about them and looking into it a bit that they are Christians. In my opinion, if they were a Christian band, they likely would never have won the Grammy for best song, or even received a nomination for that matter.
They are the sons of a baptist preacher. The name "Kings of Leon" is a reference to their Father and Grandfather, each named Leon.
My point in posting is that I think after some trying personal times, ie. the divorce of their family, they still love The Lord . I believe their inclusion of their praying before a show in the video, and their wearing of the Cross in general says something. Some celebrities, namely entertainers, wear the Cross as some gaudy display having little or nothing to do with The Lord. I do not believe this to be the case with these boys.
And I mentioned their other songs being unChristian ( risque), so there I agree. I believe they may have lost their way, and what we are witnessing now is their finding their way back home to Jesus. That is something impossible to know. I just know that I have been strongly moved, for weeks, to post this song.

I believe that the current generations of young people need some of their cultural celebrities to let it be known that they love Jesus. That is what I look for, and here, I believe I have found it. A small dose of the love of The Lord displayed before millions of young people, but a dose nonetheless. In a popular culture with very, very few outwardly Christian entertainers or celebrities of any sort, I think we need all Christians in the spotlight to speak up.

A couple of other examples of this line of thought: Creed (90's) Kansas - although much more obvious in their faith (70's and 80's). Neither of these were what you would call a Christian Band ( Kansas was close) but young people that I knew pointed with pride to their being Christians.
In this Madonna/Britney Spears culture, I am just looking for help anywhere I can find it.

No worries Naz, I just thought you were curious about whether we thought they were Christians or not / or a Christian band. They don't need to be either to be to find mention in the forums, I just thought that was the question / discussion on the table I listen to by far more non-Christian music, which is largely where I get my jaded "Oh their playing the Religion card" stuff from.

I'm the same. More non-Christian bands for me as well, not by choice, but the great songs I hear are usually secular and I am very pleased when the paths cross.

This song " CLOSER" by Kings of Leon - www.youtube.com/v/T8AvtYJDBoA - may or may not be Christian. I haven't studied it enough to be sure, and the referral to "she" throws me - but it IS fantastic. It speaks of 2000 years "taking its toll". A spooky song, to be sure.
