Sept Update

UPDATE PART II:

First off, for those who didn't know, for the last 2-3 days Rooster killed the site.  Honestly, I've no idea what happened.  I applied some updates (as you'll read about below, and disregard, they didn't work!) to the site.  I did it on my test site, they worked fine.  I put em on here, it totally decimated the website.  I couldn't do anything.  My backup file made prior to the udpates was corrupt.  New installation attempts failed.  Nothing was working.  After working all of Fri., on it, and most of Sat., I finally gave in to some much needed sleep (and a round here and there to allivieate the pressure).  Woke Sunday, went to Church, came home, cracked my brain open again as I uploaded and uploaded various known working backups that I've made, as I watched in horror as one by one each and every one failed.  See, one thing I will say about our CMS package - Res and I both noted this as we mixed various versions of php, mysql, webservers, and even OS's..  It is VERY finicky.  You would THINK simply copying the files and updating directories as needed would work.  It SHOULD work like that, if you ask me.  But, it doesn't.  So I had to reinvent the wheel and figure out the magic that I worked to get it running the first time, before ANY of you were members here, or had even heard of us!  Obviously, some 30 hours later, I found it.  But I'm going to issue this official warning:

This website may NOT be running 100% as it was before.

If you notice anything out of the ordinary, please xfire me (you can try using the pm system onsite as well, as it will need to be tested as well).  Most importantly, thanks for your patience.  I can't even begin to tell you how unraveled my nerves were, those who played with me ever so briefly will attest to how poorly I was playing (yes, poorer than usual!!).  But after a clear head and some prayer, we're back.  Next personal task, create an exactly identical installation to what's here, and figure out WHY things got so messed up.

THE VICTOR:  First and foremost - A hearty Congrats goes out to LivingH20, for successfully defending his title as the top player across the board for CoD4.  I encourage you all to keep up the work, because another challenge will be coming eventually.

THE SITE:
LOGGING IN - Many of you have mentioned you've had problems within the last 2 months logging into the website.  I have made some changes (that I'm hoping I might have changed back about 2 months ago, heh) and tweaked some files on the site - Please take a moment and log in and see what happens.  If it works, super - Reply to the thread located here and post your success.  If it doesn't, well, post that too :(  If you've posted there already about it not working, all I need is a 'still doesn't work'.  If you've not posted there, well..  Follow along with what the rest have posted for me ;)  Please note this is a members only area, so the general public will not be able to access that link.
FORUMS - Still patiently awaiting that forum update.  TOld any day now..  It 'should' address many, if not all of the issues I've listed in the known problems with it (stickied in our forums, lol).

GAMING:

THE LEAGUE:  TWL..  I've posted a few times and spoken either on TS or xfire with about 3 people (ChrisXCross, Kal, Num).  These guys are ready to roll and continue with TWL using the new XAC software (see members area posts).  That's awesome, however, myself included makes us a team of 4.  I cannot stress this enough that I need you guys to let me know whether you're going to install XAC so we can move on with TWL or not.  We've gone up about 5 ranks on BOTH ladders, but I will not challenge anyone until I know if I've got a team to back it up with.

THE COD  4 SERVERS:

MAIN SERVER (aka East Coast Server)- Currently running the 3rd (and final) rotation of the original map pack.  It will rotate back to stock/ranked play again, then run a 'best-of / favorites' rotation after that.  Please start, or post to a topic requesting your favorite maps :)  (Do so in the general category, visitors/regulars are welcome to post their requestst as well!).  After that, roughly the the middle of this month, Map Pack 2 will be released.  Unlike the initial mappack, it will NOT contain 85 maps.  Future map packs will contain only the rotation we will be running in an attempt to keep them more realistically sized.  A torrent of the pack will be available in the downloads area when the time draws near.  Avid new map players may join the 2nd smaller server which from time to time (you'll know when...) will be featuring said maps for beta testing / gametype checking out.  There are some really good ones in there, I must say, already..
SMALL SERVER (aka West Coast Server)- Currently running a customized ACE mod version which features the Single Player Weapons used in the game.  There are 'tricks' to this, simply get in the game, and read the green text server messages.  Sorry they spam, remember it is the ONLY way for players to currently know what attachments do what, and on what weapons..  Like I said above, from time to time, this server DOES run the map pack 2 maps.  Some of these will redirect download from the fast redirect.  Others (fresher, newer) will cap at COD4's internal 20k speed.
MAPS  - If you know of ANY really awesome maps that we don't have in a rotation here yet, please xfire me the name(s), files, whatever ya have.  Always looking for good stuff.
ACE MOD - I've started mod editing based on the current release we are running to add some cool, new features in.  I'm honestly not sure if they will get seen just yet, because I might have to start all over - ACE 2.0 is coming out soon.  It has quite an impressive feature list, some things which I was informed are actually being done on his sister mod, AWE.  (that being, disarmable C4/CLAYS, which if you possess the perk to use, you can then take and USE them yourself).  There are other things coming as well to add to the realism, but we'll save that for a forum post once 2.0 is live.
